A Bit About Baptism

Hi! Today, we're talking about the sacrament of baptism. Well, let's start out with a question...

WHAT IS BAPTISM?

Baptism is when Original Sin is washed away. Original Sin is what Adam and Eve gave to us when they disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. Our souls get cleaned off when we get baptized, kind of like when you put a dirty dish under the faucet and, suddenly, the dish is clean! Or how the laundry machine washes a grass stain out of your shorts.

Usually, you're a baby when you're baptized. The priest says, "I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." Then, you are baptized!

WHAT DOES A PRIEST BAPTIZE WITH?

Usually, the priest baptizes with a shell. Sometimes, a cup. It depends on the priest, and/ or the church.

WHAT IS A GODPARENT?

A godparent is the person your parents choose to help you out on your spiritual journey to heaven. The godparent(s) will light a candle for you.

HOW MANY GODPARENTS DO YOU HAVE?

You can have up to 2.

I hope that you learned a bit about baptism!

God Bless!!!!☺
